Get Checking Class

The Get Checking Program is designed to give you the information you need to choose and manage a demand deposit account. Get Checking provides a great overview of account services so that no matter what your circumstances you may use the information presented in class to help you choose and manage the account that is best for you. With an account, you will have the tools to manage your finances efficiently and conveniently and reach your financial goals.

How does Get Checking work?

  • Educational Program about Deposit Accounts
The Get Checking Program is an opportunity to learn more about how to choose and manage a basic deposit account with a bank or credit card. It is expected to take about 4 hours to complete.

You will need to participate in each section of the program and complete all required exercises and tests to earn your Certificte. Your class facilitator/evaluator will determine if you have met the requirements.

  • You will receive a Certificate of Completion
The financial institution you choose will expect you to bring an original Certificate of Completion when you open an account. Program facilitators are not allowed to give you a second Certificate so keep yours safe until you are ready to use it.

  • You will be able to open an account with a “Participating Financial Institution”.
Financial institutions “sign-up” to participate in checking. To find out which banks and credit unions in your area participate you can:
  1. Get a list from your class instructor.
  2. Go to the website
  3. One will be provided with our Certificate.
