Other Insurance

If you are age 60+ or an adult with a disability and don't qualify for Medicare and Medicaid or have questions about other insurance the ADRC would like to help you explore other options.

COBRA provides certain former employees, retirees, spouses, former spouses, and dependent children temporary continuation of health coverage at a group rate, when health coverage is lost due to specific events. The cost is higher than the active employee rate, but usually lower than rates available for individual coverage. The US Department of Labor has put together a publication that answers frequently asked questions about COBRA. Get your questions answered by downloading FAQs for Employees about COBRA Continuation Health Coverage.

Long - Term Care Insurance

Medicare provides only limited coverage for recuperation from sickness or injury. In-home care or care in an assisted living facility for extended periods of time are not covered. Purchasing Long-Term Care insurance is a way to provide coverage for these expenses should you need them. There are many plans with a wide range of coverage and premium. It's important to arm yourself with knowledge so that you can make an educated decision based on your age, own preferences and available financial resources.

For unbiased information about Long-Term Care Insurance check out the Wisconsin Commisioner of Insurance website on the topic. You'll find explainations of the different types of Long-Term Care Insurance, list of Wisconsin approved policies, coverage and premium information.
