Traffic Team

In 2001, through a unique partnership with The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the Patrol Division began operating the Traffic Safety Team. This team consists of a sergeant and two officers. The primary focus of the team is to increase traffic safety through progressive traffic law enforcement along with education of the public.

Team members are not assigned to a patrol section and not directly responsible to respond to calls for service. They enforce traffic regulations in known problem areas and respond to complaints of traffic related problems from the community. This is accomplished through use of conventional radar and LASER, the deployment of radar speed display boards and a metro-count device that records vehicle time and speed through a specific area.

Members are also trained in Traffic Occupant Protections Strategies (TOPS), as Child Passenger Safety Technicians.

If you have a traffic safety concern you would like addressed please fill out our online complaint form.
