More energy hits the earth from the sun in one hour than the whole world used in one year. Solar energy is measured in kilowatt hours (kWh) and one kilowatt equals1,000 watts. Using solar energy produces no air or water pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
A number of Brown County government buildings have been fitted with solar panels. These buildings include:
Aging and Disability Resource Center
Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve
Brown County Fairgrounds
Sheriff Office Building
These projects are projected to produce just over 120,000 kWh annually and save the County approximately $13,300 per year.
