Affirmative Action - Equal Employment Opportunity Employer
Brown County is committed to the equality of opportunity for all people. It is the official policy of Brown County to provide equal employment opportunities for all individuals, on the basis of their skills, abilities and qualifications, without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, political affiliation, sex, age, disability, marital status, arrest or conviction record, sexual orientation, disabled veteran or covered veteran status, membership in the National Guard or any other reserve component of the United States or State military forces, use or nonuse of lawful products off the employer’s premises during non-working hours, or any other non-merit factors, except where such factors constitute a bona fide occupational qualification.

This policy applies to all aspects of the employment relationship, including recruitment, selection, promotion, transfer, compensation, layoff and recall, training and development, disciplinary action and termination. Brown County encourages all individuals, who so desire, to seek employment, and encourages all employees, who so desire, to strive for advancement.

As part of the County's commitment to equal employment opportunity and affirmative action, this message is communicated to all County employees. All new employees will also receive this statement during a new employee orientation session. All employees will receive this statement annually as an affirmation of our dedication to our Equal Employment Opportunity Policy and Affirmative Action Plan.

The Affirmative Action Officer for Brown County is the Human Resources Director. Please contact Human Resources at (920) 448-4071 to discuss any questions, issues or problems regarding this policy.

Brown County is fully committed to their Equal Employment Opportunity Policy and Affirmative Action Program. All employees are expected to comply with and support these policies as well. Together, all must strive to create a work force that is free from discrimination and truly provide equal opportunity for all.

Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Brown County provides family and medical leave in accordance with the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Wisconsin Family and Medical Leave Act.

For the most part, the federal and state family and medical leave laws run concurrently. When an employee's absence qualifies as FMLA leave under both state and federal laws, entitlement under each law is used at the same time. Where one law provides a greater benefit than the other, the employee will receive the greater benefit. Entitlements are calculated on a calendar year, January 1 to December 31, for both state and federal purposes.

Harrassment Free Workplace
Brown County also does not tolerate harassment on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, political affiliation, sex, age, disability, marital status, arrest or conviction record, sexual orientation, disabled veteran or covered veteran status, membership in the National Guard or any other reserve component of the United States or State military forces, or use or nonuse of lawful products off the employer’s premises during non-working hours. Brown County encourages any individuals who feel they have been harassed to bring the situation to the attention of the Affirmative Action Officer.
