The Mountain-Bay Recreational Trail will be closed at Glendale Avenue (just north of Evergreen Ave) in the Village of Howard for 3 days on Wednesday, September 8, Thursday, September 9 and Friday, September 10, 2010. Road bed construction will be taking place as part of the Glendale Ave reconstruction project. There will be no marked detours so trail users should plan accordingly. Thank you for being patient while this local public works project takes place!
This 83-mile trail stretches from the Village of Howard to the eastern end of Wausau. Thirteen miles of this State Recreational Trail runs through Brown County atop an abandoned railroad grade with a compacted crusher dust surface for bicyclists.
An Annual State Trail Pass or a Daily Pass is required for bicyclists, in-line skaters, and horseback riders over 16 years old. There is no fee for walkers. Daily Passes are $3 and are available at the trail paystations at various locations along the trail. Annual State Trail Passes are $20 and are also available at each paystation as well as several vendor locations.
DIRECTIONS: From Green Bay, take Highway 41 north to Velp Avenue exit. Turn left on Velp Avenue, right onto Riverview Drive and then right onto Lakeview Drive. Parking is available just past the trailhead on the right.
Construction near the Mountain Bay-Trail Road construction on Glendale Avenue in the Village of Howard will be taking place in the vicinity of the Mountain-Bay Trail beginning April 23rd and lasting until October. Please use caution since work crews will be moving heavy equipment and trucks in this area and the road surface will be rough. Use caution when crossing this construction area! Several short trail closures will be necessary at times during this construction span. We will provide those closure notices as soon as we are made aware of them. Please note that Glendale Avenue crosses the Mountain-Bay Trail in two locations – this road construction will affect the easterly crossing of Glendale Avenue.
