It’s too bad money doesn’t come with instructions because we all need to know how to spend it , save it and borrow it wisely. That’s why financial institutions, not-for-profits, schools, libraries and lots of others are joining together to help support financial education during Wisconsin’s fourth annual Money Smart Week – October 2 - 9, 2010. To learn more about this workshop, please click here. | | | | Money Smart Kid 2010 | In support of Green Bay Area’s Money Smart Week Wisconsin 2010—taking place October 2-9—the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and partner organizations in the Greater Green Bay Area are sponsoring the Money Smart Kid Essay Contest. Students in grades 6-8 or in grades 9-12 attending a Partners in Education public or private school are encouraged to enter by answering the Money Smart question with an essay of 300 words or less. Top three finalists in each category will be invited to attend Money Smart Week Kickoff on October 4. Top finalist in each category will receive $500 scholarship, 2nd & 3rd will receive $50 savings bond.

| | Poverty Simulation Volunteers Needed | Four poverty simulations are scheduled for this fall and volunteers are needed. Volunteers will assist with running various social service agencies used by participants in the simulation. Poverty simulations are designed to help education people about the day to day realities of life with a shortage of money and an abundance of stress. During the simulation, participants role-play the lives of low-income families. Poverty simulations are scheduled for the following dates. Each simulation takes approximately 2.5 hours.
